Venezuela: Defending the Revolution
Since opposition politician Juan Guaido appointed himself Venezuela's new president in late January with the full support of Washington and its allies, US government-led attempts to overthrow the Venezuelan government of first Hugo Chavez and now Nicolas Maduro have intensified.
Donald Trump has said all options are on the table to put an end to Venezuela's "Bolivarian revolution," including a direct US military intervention.
But Venezuelans are ready to resist. redfish travelled to the country's capital Caracas to hear from those on the frontline of the resistance and got exclusive access to members of Venezuela's 1.6 million strong citizens militia as they receive military training and the 'colectivos' who have been demonised by the western media. Both groups are getting ready to confront the threats Venezuela faces, both from inside and outside the country.
The late Venezuelan leader Chavez famously once said that the Venezuelan revolution is peaceful but it's not unarmed. 'Venezuela: Defending the Revolution' goes on the ground in Venezuela to hear how the people will take on Trump and shows exclusive footage of the Bolivarian Militia.
